Iga Świątek Makes a Surprising Confession: "I Had to Go Through It"

It must be admitted that Andy Roddick feels just as comfortable in front of the microphone, hosting the podcast, as he did during his time on the courts around the world. The American admires Iga Świątek, among others, a fact he emphasized many times, including at the beginning of the career of the now 24-year-old, newly crowned Wimbledon champion.
Wim Fissette Through the Eyes of Iga Świątek: A Polish Woman's Surprising ConfessionRoddick, taking advantage of Świątek's success in London and before the start of the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal, invited her to appear on his podcast. "Serve" is published on YouTube, attracting a large tennis community.
The Polish actress answered many questions in an engaging conversation. There was, of course, no shortage of topics related to... strawberry pasta, but also some purely sporting matters.
One such relationship was the Polish woman's relationship with her Belgian coach. Świątek spoke at length about how the collaboration with her new coach developed. However, as one can deduce, Wim Fissette proved to be the right choice after completing an important phase with Tomasz Wiktorowski .
"I felt like my results weren't as good as I'd like, but it wasn't really anyone's fault. Sometimes you have a bad day. But when you lose, you suddenly feel like you're not working well. Because finally, there were changes with a new coach. But when I had doubts, I had to go through with it. Wim and I sat down and told him my feelings. He's probably the most patient person I've ever talked to. It turned out the solution was to trust myself more and delve into my work, instead of constantly thinking about what happened last year. It was behind me, so I needed to grow and look forward," the Pole said in an interview with the 2003 US Open champion.
It's worth noting that in addition to winning the title in London, Świątek played in two Grand Slam semifinals in the 2025 season, at the Australian Open and Roland Garros. And the US Open in New York is still on the horizon.
In her career so far, the Polish player has won a total of 23 championship titles on courts almost all over the world.
Świątek has won six Grand Slam titles, four at Roland Garros (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024), one at the US Open (2022), and one at Wimbledon (2025). She also won the prestigious WTA Finals (2023).
In addition, wins in WTA 1000 tournaments, respectively in: Rome (2021, 2022, 2024), Doha (2022 and 2024), Indian Wells (2022 and 2024), Miami (2022), Beijing (2023) and Madrid (2024).
The list also includes WTA 500 events: Adelaide (2021), Stuttgart (2022 and 2023), San Diego (2022), and the aforementioned Doha (2023). Plus, a Polish twist, the WTA 250 in Warsaw (2023).
Following the 2024 Olympic tournament in Paris, a bronze medal should be added to this list. This is the first medal in the history of Polish Olympics to be won from a tennis court competition.
